1.   Standards Status Report [M. Zaman/ D. Schultz]

·        Malia Zaman presented status of standards balloting activity.

·        Dave Schultz presented WG status report.

·        1016 MEC has been completed.

·        1028 was conditionally approved, and now has been fully approved.

·        1175.4 MEC is complete.

·        15939 had about 20 comments on the ballot phase. It got a 76% approval rating.

·        Schultz will act as WG chair to send 900003 to ballot.

·        Pekka Abrahamson has agreed to chair 1648, taking over from Scott Duncan.

·        Paul Diamond from Sun has been recruited to be WG chair for the adoption of PMBOK 2008.

·        Croll must officially designate these volunteers as WG Chairs.

2. S2ESC Nominations Committee Status [ Walrad, Middleton, Henley ]

·        New Management Board openings: Walrad has found a volunteer at the Naval Postgraduate School who is an officer in the Turkish Navy. He has previously been involved in developing standards for the Reliability Society. Lou Gullo speaks well of him.

3. Liaison Reports

·        DHS: Jarzombek reported that they are still working with the SEI to define the new Software Assurance process areas CMMi. Intent is to provide references to appropriate ISO and IEEE standards. He volunteered to present more information about these activities and their linkage to 15026 at the Summer Plenary. See attached report on May 2008 Software Assurance Forum.

·        INCOSE: Randy Case (no report)

·        Reliability Society: Gullo reported that 1624 is ready for another re-circ (organizational reliability capability). There were only 4 comments from the previous re-circ that needed to be addressed. He is also working on communicating with our web site guru to leverage Reliability Society information.

·        SEI: Chrissis (no report)

5. Mapping Tools Update [ Jarzombek/Phillips ]

·        Joe has contacted PieMatrix : they are willing to give a presentation about their tool and how it could be used for S2Esc standards at the FTF. Their mission is “to revolutionize how the world manages and governs project processes by bringing the standards to a practical use at the front line.” The PMI used their tool for the PMBOK. The S2ESC  needs to decide how much material would be made publically available. Croll will schedule time for them at the FTF.

·        Phillips pointed out that his company is investigating open source tools for usefulness in traceability. (Original purpose for DOORS, ReqPro, etc. is to support Requirements Traceability Matrices.)  Objective is to be able to pull out the “shalls” and implied “shalls” in the standards and put them in a database and then allow mapping and consistency checvking. OSEE (Open source engineering environment) from Eclipse project is another possibility being examined. He’s got an intern working to “XML-ize” a sample S2ESC standard.

·        Croll pointed out that there is an SA approved agreement to allow distribution of IEEE standards for mapping purposes. (Paul chairs S2ESC External Std Study Group with IP agreement with IEEE-SA for mapping purposes.)

·        Walz to present at F2F on standards collection direction / roadmap.

·        Reilly suggested looking at Kathy Land’s book for mappings.

6. Standards for Small Business Update [ Phillips ]

·        Phillips has requested the Groups in Small Settings project at SEI to provide a liaison to this Study Group.

·        Croll will be at the SEI next week and will work on getting closure for this.

 7. Summer Plenary

·        Harris Corp in Melbourne, FL will host the meetings.

·        Attendees will make their own hotel arrangements, and can use the Harris rate.

·        Croll requests agenda suggestions from all.

·        Walz offered IEEE-CS SAB presentation on Standards Committee Vitality and working with other organizations such as Reliability Society Standards Committee.

·        Marcus will call in regarding VuSpec for the July 30th meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m., EDT
