SWLC
Croll pointed out that the S2ESC standards collection must consider the whole life cycle, and also be consistent with 15288 and 12207.
Reilly suggests we map our standards to 12207. ISO group has been looking at how ITIL and COBIT, et al, relate.
Walz pointed out that ISO 20000 came from BS 15000 (ITIL).
Standards Collection CD for 2007: Idea from SA to have links in it to facilitate self-certification is being examined. Also looking at offering updates to it as upgrades, at a lesser cost.
Henley not present. Croll said website clean up should be near completion.
Three columns (std no., name and WG chair) of Schultz’s monthly update to his spreadsheet will henceforth be the official version for the web.
SAB
has launched Speakers’ Bureau with this e-mail announcement to all SAB Sponsor
Committee Chairs: “The
Standards Activities Board, in conjunction with the Chapters Activities Board,
is setting up an IEEE Standards Speakers Bureau.
Please help us
start up this joint initiative with qualified speakers and interesting topics.
We are looking for knowledgeable individuals who are interested in giving presentations to IEEE-CS chapters on standards-related topics. If you are interested please fill out the attached form and return it to the long time standards volunteer who has offered to coordinate this program, David Schultz at dschultz@csc.com.“
Walz has signed up; Jarzombek will. All S2ESC participants are encouraged to do so.
CS Conference and Tutorials Board is developing a new conference model to become more cost-effective and be more efficient wit HQ staff. Developing algorithms for determining which conferences need to be consolidated or co-located, which left as is, and which discontinued.
As we look at this, and at opportunities, need to define our target market(s). We should look at getting tracks at SD Forum, STAR and other established conferences that address parts of the SWLC. Walz mentioned the recent Conference on SW Engineering and Practices (Carl Chang) as a potential opportunity. Annette’s terminology project could have wide appeal.
AR: Schultz/Croll to start a back burner effort, in conjunction with Speaker’s Bureau efforts.
A new conference model is also being proposed for SSTC with focus on getting more value to the military. Attendance has been dropping. Locations of conference will rotate among the military. Next one is June 18-21 in Tampa.
February FTF. Feb. 27 – Mar.1. Chuck will ask Yahoo/Google/Microsoft (in that order) if they’d be willing to host the FTF and to have someone from the host company address the group about how they use standards and about how they structure any internal standards they use.
Update to Policies: Henley sent the official versions of the Policies to Walrad for updating. Walrad will review prior suggestions from S2ESC and incorporate as appropriate, make additional suggestions, and distribute to S2ESC for review and approval. S2ESC P&P need to be approved by AudCom. They have been submitted, but no word from them, and not posted on SA website. (AudCom has a long queue, and may not have gotten to this yet.) SA has a model operating procedure that we must conform to, albeit with parameterizations. Would be good to have hyperlinks from our policies to it.
