S. Duncan and J.
Walz have started dialogue on an outline for “Software Quality Standards for
Quality Management System.” John will be attending the US TAG to TC176 in San
Francisco, CA next week, looking for interest and contacts.
Took an action item
to draft the Software Quality Study Group “task plan” containing anticipated
product(s), timeframe, and additional resources from SESC membership / board –
due May 2004 SESC meeting.
Jack Cole is the chair of IEEE Information Assurance Standards Committee (IASC) committee. The scope is not equivalent to security, rather guarantees timely delivery of quality information. This committee is relatively new, addressing information security system control with certification, security and storage for encrypted storage media, also for printers.
Jack was invited to telecon to assure that appropriate collaboration between the High Integrity Systems study group and the IA committee. D. Sparkman is planning a kick-off email to committee members in order to define objectives and schedule. Members on the roster include: Alan Nikora, Jim Moore, Paul Croll, Joe Jarzombek, Dennis Lawrence, and Jack Cole.
Several IEEE S2ESC standards exist on reliability and risk. Have looked at high integrity systems as an IEEE S2ESC area of focus within the standards collection.
Procedure 22 has been recirculated for ballot. No policy update.

15288 adoption/12207 harmonization/12207.x revision
[Moore]
Need to define current strategy for 12207 regarding what is happening with 15288 and 12207 harmonization. Coordination with NDIA is an issue with 15288, working with IEEE SA staff to determine a reasonable solution that will satisfactorily address coordination issues.
J. Moore suggested that S2ESC form a committee to look at harmonization alternatives that will formulate an opinion to present through category A liaison with SC7. This ad-hoc harmonization committee should be composed of any stakeholder expressing an interest in participating. Those on the MB or ExeCom who would like to participate should contact Jim Moore. Looking to draft an opinion by the middle of April.
No report.
